As much as we love, love, love the t.v. series Silicon Valley, the MemoryWeb team is pretty far removed from that life. We live in Chicago, a town better known for its deep dish pizza* than it's deep technology culture.
Yet, we like to think that our Chicago geography gives us a bit of an edge. We have lovely summers that can rival sunny California, but our winters can be pretty intense. The kind where Fido doesn't mind putting on that doggie sweater to go outside for 45 seconds. Where you have to work from home (again) because your car got swallowed by a snowberg.
But it's that very inability/lack of desire to leave our homes for 3-4 months each year gives us a little extra time each day to spend creating, and of course, dreaming of when we can move to California.
* If you're ever in town, you've got to try the Chicago Classic at Lou Malnati's. It's worth every buttery calorie.
Nancy
Nancy is a founder and our Chief Memory Officer and has spent the majority of her career building products and brands for companies in the technology industry. When she's not at the office or the baseball fields cheering her boys on, you're likely to find Nancy riding her bike on the trails thinking up new features for MemoryWeb and tasting the occasional gnat. Looking forward 20 years, the thing Nancy treasures most about MemoryWeb is knowing evidence of her sons' antics will be at her fingertips any time she or Chris needs it.
If you're attending RootsTech 2020 in Salt Lake City, come hear Nancy present "Photo Metadata 101: A Beginners Guide" on Thursday, February 27 at 4:30 pm.
Christopher
Chris, a founder and advisor, is a mild-mannered economist by day and keen photographer any chance he gets. He is also crazy organized and gets great joy from curating historic family photos along with new ones. He's been a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan his whole life and has transferred his love of baseball to his and Nancy's two young sons. Chris is also an ardent fly fisherman and dreams some day of taking his family to fish the Amazon River in Brazil. What he loves most about MemoryWeb is that he can finally access all his photos from anywhere in the world -- and without worrying about photo storage limits!
Michael
Mike is a founder and tech advisor extraordinaire. He's the kind of guy who can not only code like a boss but also talks tech in a way we civilians actually understand instead of just pretending to comprehend. Mike's worked with government agencies, information service businesses and now MemoryWeb. He's a keenly visionary developer who tackles big data in his sleep, has a fondness for fashion-forward socks, and takes out any extra energy on the ice (the kind that wins Stanley Cups). His favorite thing about MemoryWeb is knowing that ALL his stuff is being backed up and organized for him at all times.
zach
His nickname is Zach-of-all-trades, because that's what he does at MemoryWeb. A recent college grad with a degree in Marketing, Zach brings the perfect blend of millennial insight and fresh newbie perspective to every project under his wing. His favorite thing about MemoryWeb (aside from his co-workers) is the daily Memories albums that are sent to him via the app. Zach uses those to walk down memory lane and to occasionally torment his sister with awkward photos from her childhood.
LEO
Leo is equal parts fun-loving Boxer and creative muse for the MemoryWeb team. He constantly inspires us to get out of our chairs and brainstorm in the great outdoors, where some of our best ideas have been hatched.
